Hello from Six Flags
🎢 Writing this from a picnic table at Six Flags.
My son turned 15 this week; I brought him and his friends to the park for the day. While they ride coasters, I’m riding the highs of solopreneur life - laptop open, phone in hand, plugged in and present for both work and family.
I didn’t take a summer Friday. I didn’t slow down. I just shifted locations. This is one of the benefits of running your own business and building a life that fits your values.
But here’s the bigger takeaway:
The resistance to hybrid or remote work isn’t about productivity. We’ve proven we can be effective from anywhere. It’s about trust, culture, and outdated notions of what “showing up” looks like.
I’m all for 3 to 4 days a week in the office when it’s intentional; when it builds connection, culture, and creativity. But showing up for your role, your team, and your company doesn’t always mean showing up in the office.
It means being ...
✅ In to the job.
✅ In to the mission.
✅ In to the goals.
✅ In to the work that moves things forward.
Because presence isn’t just about proximity. It’s about commitment.
And thanks to technology; a little courage to reimagine how we work - we can have both impact and ice cream 🎂.
