New York Times’ Inaugural Well Festival
What a privilege it was to attend the inaugural Well Festival hosted by NYTimes yesterday with my dear friend Farah Miller! The theme — HAPPINESS— resonated deeply with the work I do and am so passionate about; so I'll pass along some Well Wisdom from the day ...
“Happiness is the thread that connects us. The desire to find happiness in life — for ourselves and for those we love — is ever so important,” shared Lori Leibovich, Editor of Well at The New York Times.
Tracee Ellis Ross reminded us that “joy is a choice, similar to gratitude — and that it can come from so many places.”
Suleika Jaouad encouraged us to live “each day like it was our first (not our last),” approaching life with curiosity.
Samin Nosrat reflected on the power of community — whether it’s something big, like weekly dinners with friends, or something small, like simply making intentional plans with those we care about.
Sara Bareilles echoed that sentiment, reminding us not to fear vulnerability. There are so many people willing to show up for us — if only we’re willing to share our truth.
Robin Arzón spoke about the difference between motivation and momentum, reminding us that we are the CEOs of our own bodies. What an honor it is to move, and to be here, in this moment.
And finally, Robert Waldinger gave us a simple but powerful challenge: pick up your phone and text someone who’s been on your mind — someone you want to say hi to or check in with.
So here’s your challenge — if you choose to accept it:
Reach out to one person today, with no expectation of a reply. Just enjoy the surge of dopamine that comes from thinking about someone who matters to you — and letting them know.
